This time of the year is tailor-made for the wearing of your coziest sweaters, curling up in front of a roaring fire, and sipping on something hot (preferably hot chocolate or that seasonal standby the pumpkin spice latte). Throw in a few gray skies and a good book or craft project, and you have what I consider to be the plan for a perfect fall day.
So tonight, I'm cheering myself up by watching some Christmas movies, dancing around my living room to Beyoncé's 7/11, and eating a hot and spicy bowl of the easiest (and tastiest) homemade chili I've had in a while because, baby, it's cold (and wet) outside.
I'm cheap, I love good food, I'm not a great cook, and I need to lose some weight, so when I stumbled onto this recipe for chickpea salad--inexpensive, tasty, quick, and healthful--I knew I'd found a winner.
I've been eating out a lot more than I'm used to, and it's not doing anything positive for my waistline or my financial bottom line. It's time for me to get back to basics.
